Annual Club Competitions - Rules

Competition Rules
Singles - Four Woods - Championship The winner will be the first player to score 21 shots
Singles - Two Woods -
'R Gooday Cup'
The winner will be the first player to score 21 shots
Singles - Long & Short Jack - 'Jim Hurst Trophy' The mat is to be placed two metres from the edge of the ditch on every end. Golf markers to be set at minimum and maximum jack positions. At the start of each end the jack to be placed on golf marker at either minimum or maximum position. Game to comprise of two maximum lengths followed by two minimum lengths ends etc. Should the jack be moved by a bowl it is to be placed on its original spot even if it leaves the rink or enters the ditch. In the event of a bowl covering the jack spot marker, the jack shall be placed as near as possible to the spot marker position. Placing the jack shall be at the discretion of the marker. The winner will be the first player to score 21 shots. The jack or mat will not be given away at any time during the match.
Singles - Four Woods -
'Greta Hurst Sevens'
The winner will be the first player to win two of the three sets playable. Each set shall consist of seven ends. The player with the highest number of points at the end of the seven ends is the winner of the set. The winner of the toss shall have choice of mat on the first and third sets. The other player shall have choice on the second set. Should the points be equal at the end of seven ends an extra end to be played.
Singles - 4-3-2-1 - 'R Gooday Hospital Cup' Scoring is as follows:- Nearest bowl to jack scores 4 points: second nearest 3 points: third nearest 2 points and the fourth nearest scores 1 point. First player to score 101 points is the winner. Should both players pass 101 on the same end the player with the highest total points is the winner. In the event of a tie, a further end to be played. The player with the highest total of points on an end bowls the jack on the next end. Should points on an end be equal the player with the shot bowl has the jack on the next end.
Singles - Four Woods - Junior Championship Open to any player or Club Member who has not won a Club Four Bowls Singles Championship OR Junior Championship. The winner will be the first player to reach 21 shots.
Singles - Four Woods - Handicap Member's handicaps as set and published by the Competitions Sub Committee [Captain, Competition Secretary & Team manager] to be used. The lowest handicap player shall score 21 shots to win, before his opponent has reached 21 shots plus the difference in the handicaps. No Member may enter in his first year at the Club.
Singles - Three Woods - Veterans Cup Entrants must have reached the age of 65 years on or before the 1st of January in the year of the competition. Member's handicaps as set and published by the Competitions Sub-Committee to be used. The difference in players' handicaps to be given to the player with the lower handicap to be put on his scorecard at the start of the game. No Member may enter in his first year at the Club.
Singles - Junior Two Wood - 'Gordon Shield' Entrants must have a handicap of Six or below. The winner will be the first player to reach 21 shots.
Pairs - Purkiss Pairs Pairings to be drawn by the Competitions Sub-Committee. The same pairing must continue to play throughout the competition. In the event of an illness or exceptional circumstances the Competitions Sub-Committee may appoint a substitute to complete the competition. The game to consist of 21 ends. In the event of a tie after 21 ends an extra end to be played.
Pairs - Two Wood - 'Taffy Smith' Entrants choose their own partner. The same pairing must continue to play throughout the competition. In the event of an illness or exceptional circumstances, the Competitions Sub-Committee may appoint a substitute to complete the competition. The game to consist of 21 ends. In the event of a tie after 21 ends an extra end to be played.
